Dream a Little Dream

As the hurricane-related downpour rains me out for today, all I have left to do is my history homework and dreaming of where I could be, what I could be doing, and most importantly, what I could be wearing :) In times like these it is crucial to float your mind out of claustrophobic dorms and into say a fancy dress gala at the Paris Opera house where I would be wearing Michelle William's stunning mustard yellow Vera Wang or maybe I would be enjoying said sopping weather if I had Keira & Sienna's flirty forties frocks from "The Edge of Love" to keep me company. For these and many more fabulous clothes would find their way into my ultimate dress up box. Thank you to Kat for sharing the idea in the first place, I'd really love to see everyone's dressbox though, what would you love to covet and wear for eternity?

First off in my fantasy life we must begin with beyond fantastic gowns I will wear on my dates with Matthew Goode

I've always adored polka dots (the first dress I ever remember wearing was polka dotted) however most find it too playful to be dress-up yet Keira's dress in this Vogue shoot proved otherwise, polka dots here are rather fresh and fun!

If I end up changing my mind and decide not to elope, but have a traditional wedding this goddess gown on Rachel would be my first pick!
I love yellow, it really takes a bold individual to pull it off, and Michelle Williams in her stunning mustard Vera Wang is just the girl I aspire to be. Plus the nipped tailoring is impeccable.

Any dress that can evoke the genius of Degas like Keira's Rodarte here is a favorite of mine!

Something about this simply draped almost-Grecian black gown on Kirsten makes me swoon. The flowing lines really make the dress interesting, showing that sometimes simplicity is the true art.

This is the perfect updated flapper dress. It has all the elements of that flirty frivolous style- short, sweet, ruffled, metallic, but without looking like an old sequined gown of your grandma's.

These are for when James McAvoy takes me out for champagne and dancing until dawn

That being said, I'm still addicted to any form of flapper style and Kate Moss's truly Roaring Twenties Topshop dress looks like the perfect dress to shimmy the night away in.
As with most Kiki gowns there's never a good reason for my adoration, but I think I love how this dress managed to be both flirty (ruffles) and functional (geometric design) at the same time.
This is the epitome of the party dress- shiny, short, and sexy, way to go Sienna!

Like Kat and every other blogger I am dying to dance until dawn in Luella's lemon-yellow mini, the ruffles are too good to resist.
If I could steal myself away into any films it would most definitely be these. Ironically all of these women have stellar wardrobes, but the horrendous lives, so maybe I'll just take the clothes thank you very much.

How could I not mention the ultimate green gown that is in my favorite book-to-movie? Lets face it we all wanted Cecilia's dress for our prom this past spring with its rich emerald hue and amazing cut.
What I love about dresses is that you just throw one item of clothing on and create a whole outfit, for any lazy day I couldn't go wrong with Naomi Watt's "Painted Veil" wardrobe of light flirty floral frocks

This is truly the best lbd I've seen ever in "Elizabethtown" I think its the white on top that makes it so unique, plus its what makes Orlando Bloom fall in love with Kiki in the film

The simple Edwardian layering of vests and scarves in "Out of Africa" made Meryl Streep's wardrobe irresistable to me

"Miss Pettigrew Lives for A Day" had some of the best 1940s dresses ever. This is tailoring at its best and if that gold gown below can get Lee Pace to run away with me I'm wearing it!

Audrey Hepburn's colorful coats in this  murder mystery "Charade" are probably my favorite pieces she's worn in any of her films. Why should we be drab and dreary in gray puffer coats during an already dismal season, where color!

And these gorgeous tea dresses and wellies are the best element of English style that "The Edge of Love" simply perfects.
Of course you need the ultimate bag to tie the outfit all together and here are mine!

I love this old-lady style Marc Jacobs bag Kate Bosworth has, the colors are so fun!
This structural Balenciaga is a bit fun with its lock-like outside and that rich mocha brown is heavenly.
And I'm still most definitely hungry for a Chanel 2.55, and Kiki's brilliant red on has never failed to wet my appetite.
Last item of lust is this brilliant blueberry blue YSL bag, that was true perfection when I saw it this past summer in Paris

And you must have the best shoes ever to finish the outfit, hence I covet Carrie Bradshaw's Marie Antoinette style stilletos!

song of the day: "Taking the Farm" by War on Drugs (this reminds me of great 80s song, so catchy)

We have similar tastes here, I adore most of these dress styles you've posted. I am just sorry for not being able to pull off a flapper style dress. Months ago I tried a silk flapper like dress that costed like nothing (some crazy sale here) but not even the large size fitted me=/
