Flower Power

"Pushing Daisies", the American TV show that manages to wonderfully combine fairytale, romance, and murder mysterey all in 45 minutes, gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, "Kiss of Death". Well maybe I should ammend that to "touch of death", for the lead of the adorably whimisical show, Ned (the hot Lee Pace), has a gift. No he's not a math wizz or a musicial prodigy, but he can touch dead things and bring them back to life! Sounds to good to be true right? (actually you were probably thinking, too weird to be true) Well as it turns out, it is.

See, there's an annoying catch to this touch of life/death. If Ned touches the person/animal/plant again it will die. If he doesn't touch it within under a minute something else in random proximity will die. Hmm, tricky tricky, as Ned learned at the awkward age of 12, but he soon used it for the powers of good, umm errr, money!

Ned is the owner of the Piehole, a pie shop that is less expensive than others to maintain because he can use dead fruit for ingredients, which obviously turns into scurmptious fruit with that golden touch! He also teams up with Emerson, a private investigator, to solve murders and collect the rewards.

All is well, until one day Emerson leads him to solve the murder of the lonely tourist, Charlotte Charles (the lovabel cute Anna Friel), who Ned fondly remembers as his first kiss, Chuck. Ned can't imagine losing the love of his life again, so he doesn't touch her again after 60 seconds is up. Now, Ned has a new partner in crime and love, but one he can never embrace hmm.

Combine this wacko plotline in with fun cinematography, vibrant color schemes, narratation by Jim Dale (the US HP on CD narrator!), and a whole Roald Dahl vibe, and it makes for a truly quirky awesome new show! (one that thanks to the damn writers strike won't return to fall) Why mention it now? Well, first off I just started watching, second off its coming to England soon & I do have a lot of English readers, and third off it has awesome fashion!

The romance between Ned & Chuck doesn't involve much action obviously, so their romance is very oldschool hollywood style, hence a fabulous Fifties wardrobe for Chuck!






And as it turns out, Anna Friel has a cute feminine style in real life too!
